Introduction:

This lesson discusses the very next event to happen in prophecy.  The next spiritual conquest for the King of the North, the Papacy, is the glorious land, or the USA.  It is a gracious God who has told us about these events before they happen so that we can have confidence as we face the future.

1.    Read Deuteronomy 3:25.  The goodly land, or “glorious” land was called ________________ in ancient times. (TE27:4/PP469).  Answer:  Ancient Israel’s land of Promise was ancient Palestine.  It flowed with milk and honey.

2.    Read Daniel 11:16.  Who besides Daniel spoke of ancient Palestine as the glorious land?  (TE28:3 and 6/D and R 247)  Answer:  Uriah Smith also called it the glorious land.  This was Pagan Rome’s conquest of ancient Palestine.  But in verse 41 we see Papal Rome spiritually conquering the glorious land of modern Israel.

3.    How does ancient and modern Israel compare with each other?  (TE28:Section Ancient and Modern: paragraphs 1, 2, 3, and 7)  Answer:   God will work for us in modern Israel as He did for His ancient people but we have more danger of forgetting God than they did.

4.    When speaking of the USA how does Ellen White refer to it?  (TE30:1/GC441)  Answer:  She speaks of the USA as a favored land by God.  USA is one of the most powerful nations on earth.

5.    How does Sister White speak of the USA in the Signs of the Times, July 4, 1899?  (TE30, last paragraph to p. 31, first paragraph)  Answer:  She speaks of USA as the greatest and most favored nation upon the earth.

Summary:

In this lesson we have seen that the “glorious land” of Daniel 11:41 is referring to the USA because it is a goodly, favored, and most powerful nation. The next lesson will complete verse 41 of Daniel 11 as we see the impending Sunday law
