Study 01 / Study 02Study 03Study 04 / Study 05Study 06

Note that Lesson 5 includes:

·         The chapter in The Time of the End magazine (TE) entitled, “History in Transition”

·         Notes chapter Daniel 11:40, Part B

·         Book, The Final Rise and Fall of the King of the North, pages 35-42

·         Scripture on which this lesson is based: Daniel 11:40

Introduction:

This lesson begins at the “time of the end” which has been identified as 1798 through Daniel’s prophecies of chapters 2, 7, and 8.  We will see how the capital of atheism changed from France to the Soviet Union and how the prophecy of Daniel 11:40 was fulfilled in how the United States employed her military and economic power to bring down the Soviet Union in 1989.  So let’s get into our study.

1.    Read Daniel 11:40.  Explain the words a) push, b) come against, c) whirlwind, d) overflow, and e) pass over.  (TE 21:4-6)  Answer:

a)    Push means to war against

b)    Come against means a mighty reversal or a counter attack.  It also implies ascendancy.  The Papacy didn’t simply war against the Soviet Union, but it arose to power more because of its fall.

c)    Whirlwind means to hurl like a storm

d)    Overflow means to conquer

e)    Pass over means to cover

So we see that verse 40 says that sometime after 1798 the Papacy (King of the North) would sweep away the King of the South or Atheism, embodied in the Soviet Union—and at the same time be ascending to some kind of power.

2.    How did the King of the South begin as France and then become the Soviet Union?  (TE 21:18 and 21 and 22:2)  Answer:  In 1798 France was the country in which atheism was strongest.  But later it moved away from atheism as its basic principle of government.  By the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, atheism’s capital was moved to Russia, which later expanded into the Soviet Union.

3.    What stirred up the Papacy (King of the North) against the Soviet Union (King of the South)?  (TE22:4,5)  Answer:  The Papacy was losing its power because one by one its countries were revolting and becoming communist.

4.    What part of Daniel 11:40 shows that the United States would help the Papacy fight against the Sdoviet Union?  (TE22:6-8 Answer:  Chariots and horsemen means military strength (1 Kings 1:5 and 1 Kings 20:1) and ships means economic strength (Psalm 107:23 and Rev. 18:17-19).

5.    A) In what way is the United States in Daniel 11:40 a parallel of Clovis at the time of the fall of Pagan Rome and the setting up of Papal Rome.   (TE22:9)  Answer:  Between 508 and 538 AD Clovis converted from paganism to Catholicism and used his army’s military strength to pluck up the 3 horns of Daniel 7:8 to make room for the one notable horn of the Papacy.  In this same way the USA used its strength to assist the Papacy in getting rid of the Soviet Union in 1989.

B) The significance of this event is that the fulfilling Daniel 11:40 now changes the following verses into “present” truth.  Present truth is current fulfillment in our day.

6.    Is there any significance to the pleural word “countries” in Daniel 11:40?  (TE22:10)  Answer:  Yes, the pleural word shows that the Soviet Union would comprise more than one country.

7.    Note that the rest of this lesson is documentation to emphasize and explain these points we have already made.  Read them carefully for greater understanding.

Summary:  In this lesson we have seen how the fulfillment of Daniel 11:40 took place in the fall of the Soviet Union by the military and economic strength of United States helping the Papacy.  This parallels Clovis’ assistance of the Papacy to power in 538AD.  This prophecy having been fulfilled in our day highlights the truth that the rest of Daniel 11 is now present truth and currently coming to pass.  May we live mindful of Jesus’ presence and be ready for these events as they occur.
